The Salon Front Desk Without a Receptionist: Texts, Calls and Reminders

How salons and suite renters answer client texts, recover missed calls and keep reminders going while the stylist is mid-service.

The phone is the hardest part of a one-person salon

A stylist mid-foil cannot answer a call, and a client who gets no answer usually books somewhere else. The missed call is rarely a lost conversation — it is a lost booking, because the client never learns that a time was available.

SBS includes missed-call text-back: when a call goes unanswered, the caller receives a text with the booking link. The client can book in the moment instead of trying again later.

Answers to the questions clients actually send

Most client texts are the same handful of questions: do you have anything Friday, how much is a balayage, where are you, do you do silk press. The SBS AI assistant replies to client texts and website chat using your services, prices and policies, and passes anything it cannot answer to you.

Read the assistant's answers before you trust them at scale. It answers from what you have configured, so the accuracy of your service list and policies is what keeps the replies accurate.

Reminders that keep the calendar honest

Reminders are the cheapest no-show prevention available. SBS sends confirmations and reminders around booked appointments, so the client is reminded of the time, and you are not the one chasing confirmations between clients.

Combine reminders with the waitlist: when a client cancels, the next person on the list hears about the opening and the chair gets filled.

Keep it inside the tools you already use

The point is not to add another inbox. Booking, reminders, text replies and client records in one place means a client's question, their appointment and their notes are all connected, and nothing depends on you remembering a text thread.

SBS keeps owner visibility while limiting what staff see to what their role requires, so a shop with several stylists can share the workflow without sharing every private note.

What this does and does not do

It answers routine client questions, recovers missed calls and sends reminders. It does not collect money on your behalf, does not run payroll, and does not automatically transfer client funds — deposits are collected through your own payment app, and money moves directly to you.

That distinction matters when you are choosing software. Ask any provider which steps are automatic and which are records you manage. Here, the assistant and reminders are automatic; money handling stays with you and your payment provider.
